SHAC's MISSION

The vision of the Student Health Advisory Council (SHAC) is to provide a student voice to Michigan State University Student Health Services regarding recommendations, policies, and initiatives. SHAC is a value-centered, data-driven, and community-conscious team. Serving on Council provides an avenue for understanding health issues; a space to generate solutions; and a platform to work towards those solutions. The Council facilitates student and administrative collaboration through Olin Health Center and community partners to support communities at Michigan State University.

CURRENT PROJECTS

EMBRACE THE RAIN

Embrace the Rain is an annual event that showcases experiences from individuals in our community surrounding mental health, at Michigan State University. Through narrative, poetry, spoken word, dance, and music, we hope to catalyze conversations surrounding the often-stigmatized experiences of mental health and create a community of empathy and understanding. This is a free event held in collaboration with the Mental Health Awareness Week recognized by the city of East Lansing and MSU.
